But to answer your question, I don't think there's a guaranteed way to be attain VIP status. JavaPF hands them out to people who catch his eye as being particularly good contributors to the forum.

I promote users to 'Forum VIP' status if they have made a strong contribution to the forums.

If you are helpful, submit tutorials and generally get involved with the community, you will eventually be promoted.

It's our way of saying thanks..

VIP users gain extra privileges such as:

* Advert free forum browsing
* Ability to create blogs
* Ability to change user title
* Username appears in gold
* Increased private message storage
* Private message attachments
* Increased upload space
* Ability to close own threads

etc..

Forum VIPs will also be considered for moderator roles.
