    Reading an entry-level textbook on programming. If you make it through the most of it and are able to make code as prompted, then you are already programming.

    To become a professional programmer, which I'm not, you need to have solid programming skills that are marketable. Probably some sort av formal training also, in today's jobs market. (At least here in Sweden.)
