Can arrays be sorted somehow based on number of occurrences. So instead of sorting an array of ints in ascending order I can somehow order them based on how often the number occurs in the array.

This would be easiest to do if you created a class with attributes of value and quantity (number of times it appears). Then sort your array of objects based on quantity.

I thought there may have been some built in function within Java.
Read the API docs for the Arrays class to see what is available.
