Thread: new java file from cmd changing default program editor notepad to notepad++

Hi forum new to this but loving it. My question is how do I change my cmd prompt default editor from notepad to notepad++.

Here's an example:-

cmd_eg>notepad++ gregorysmode.java

((((do you want to create gregorysmode.java?)))

right now it says notepad++ is not recognised as internal of external command, so I have to resort to notepad gregorysmode.java to create the java file.

any ideas, many thanks.

What OS are you using? Sounds like Windows but want to be sure.

Yes sorry correct it is windows 7

Investigate how to change the path (it's an environment variable) to add the location of the notepad++ executable. There are multiple ways to change the path, from the command line or from within the Windows GUI.
