I believe you're asking for help in setting up your environment to get started with Java programming. There are many "it depends . . " elements of an answer, so I'll point you to this page that pretty much covers the waterfront on how to get started. I will add that many Oracle getting started articles will suggest you start with Netbeans as an IDE which I don't necessarily endorse, but many do. You decide.
If I've misunderstood your question or you have others, please let us know.
Shameless self-promotion: I wrote a tutorial on setting up a Java environment here: Java Setup - Tutorials - Static Void Games

Static Void Games - Play indie games, learn from game tutorials and source code, upload your own games!
Thanks for the shameless promotion. I was looking for something like that and will add that link to my bag of common replies. (Though I can't access it at work, I assume because it has 'games' in the title.)
Thanks! Yeah, it's blocked on work networks (including mine!), but the site is a mix of tutorials (46 and counting!), open source games, and an uploader that lets people upload their own stuff without worrying about pesky Java deployment. I try not to be too obnoxious about spamming links to it, but the whole point of the tutorials was to answer questions that I hear on the forums a lot, so sometimes it comes in handy!
