Help us choose a java tech for our project
I and my friend are starting aur project based on java . We are planning to create a java based forum software . But we are confused to wheather make it a app on windows communicating a DB server ....or to make it based on serverlets and somthing like vbulltein / phpbb etc .But i think they are outdated now .
But nonethless which will be a good option from learing point of view .
What technologies we should use (compatiable with oracle server )....
we both have just started JAVA

What makes you think vBulletin and phpbb are outdated? I am not sure what your requirements are or where the confusion lies, and it is hard to give advice without understanding such information. I recommend elaborating more around the specifics of your goals and how you wish to get there.

No i meant are server-lets outdated ?
and I wanted to ask if we want to create a forum software like vb or phpbb which java tech is suggested .( i an comfortable with html etc ....and have little experience with php)
and if we want to create it based as an app running on windows with db on server then which java tech should be used .
