i like my programs to work for all OS but it's not important.

Because it is too big of a part of today's and tomorrow's world.why
Java is more than a cross-platform language. Java runs things in automobiles, portable devices, kitchen appliances, and some things that should have been but were not listed.i like my programs to work for all OS but it's not important.

Edit:Oh and one more thing, not that I like to "toot Java's horn" or anything, (more of a c c++ guy myself) but give credit where credit is due. Java just really is a good language for so many reasons.
