English to Malayalam Transliteration
Hi guys,
I am really new to Java world.
I have got a work assigned to translate English to Malayalam in an offline application, i.e when the user will enter a name in English they want it to be translated in the adjacent field to Malayalam. But I really can't figure out this yet. Can some one help me on this?

In the very bugining stage only. I couldn't get how they actually make the transliteration possible and so I am in a starting trouble.....

The simplest way would be to have some kind of data structure (a Map comes to mind) that links words with their translations. To translate the program, you substitute each word for the translation in the data structure. You have to build that.
There might be APIs available as well. Google is your friend for that one.

I was trying for better transliteration API's from google and other providers. But nothing worked yet
can you plz direct me more specifically???

Sorry, but I don't know of any APIs off the top of my head either. I figured it would be worth a look, but most likely you'll have to come up with your own solution involving the data structure approach I mentioned.Originally Posted by akhin143
