Thread: Javac Not recognized?

Hello community,
As I am just now starting out to try and learn Java language, coding, and programming I am trying to setup my computer to be able to work/run my java items. I am currently following a group of tutorial videos I found and during video 4 I found myself running into a bit of an issue, when in command prompt trying to do a simple compile method "Javac" I ran into this error message "javac is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file" I'm simply wondering what could be wrong, and what is the best method to fix this. Currently I have, or think I have, JRE8 Installed onto my PC running Windows 8 Professional. If someone could help me, I would be greatly appreciative. Thank you!

Thank you for the response, I went ahead and changed the path file to my bin file within the jre8 folder. This did fix half of my problem, but only half. Now I am able to enter in the Java command in cmd, but not the javac command.
