Default Want To Compile And Run Java Code At Home

Long time C programmer / Java newbie here.

I've been through some tutorials and I'm now ready to compile and run my own code. I'm looking for a FREE compiler that I can install on my home PC (Windows 7), possibly one that is combined with a development environment. Any recommendations for a free and intuitive compiler with integrated development environment?

The Oracle site has several choices for a java SDK. Also for IDEs look at Netbeans and eclipse.
If you don't understand my answer, don't ignore it, ask a question.

Thanks, Norm. I'm developing code with JDK 1.7 and NetBeans. Merry Christmas.

    I prefer Eclipse.
