Default Looking for a good resource for working with images & sound

I am currently going through CodeGym (almost done with Java Core). Having looked ahead a bit, I've noticed that there don't seem to be any lessons related to working with graphics. Some of the games we "build" are made using CodeGym's library where it uses their own graphical display box but we never interact directly with that part of the code. All of the other programming tasks (at least so far) involve only text input/output through the console. If I were to create my own project, I wouldn't know how to open a window for the program or have graphics displayed in the window.

I was wondering if there were any books specialized around the subject of these issues. Or any specific resources anyone would recommend.

The only thing I know about graphics-wise concerning Java is JavaFX, and if you're looking towards android GUI using Java, there are some options and all information/tutorials can be found on YouTube with a few searches.

I actually figured this out a while back, at least the graphics part. I didn't understand that AWT is Java's graphics handling thing. And I've watched a bunch of Youtube videos that show how to set up a Thread that keeps looping through update() and render() methods for the different parts of the program.

I'm still a bit fuzzy on getting Java to play music, but working on that.
