Thread: How to download records of a table in XML format

Dear Forum Members,

Using JDBC, we can write a Java program using other APIs (including JDBC API) for downloading records of a given table into a tab-delimited text file.

Similarly, is there any API or existing Java tool is available to download records of a table in XML? Because, many database products including SAP ERP has features to upload data from XML into tables.

The purpose is that once I download data from tables of a DB server in XML using Java program to a presentation server (Drive C: or Drive D: or any other LAN drive / directory), I can easily upload downloaded data in XML files to tables of any other database server, as that other DB server has features to upload data from XML file.

Also, I want to automate the process. That is, for example, once data is populated in Sales table of MS SQL Server, I want to trigger automatic execution (without manual intervention) of my Java program which has been written to download data from that table (that is, Sales table) in XML format to a presentation server.

For this automatic execution, kindly tell me the process to be followed.

I know that in MYSQL you can do a mysqldump to xml.

I don't know if there is something similar in MSSQL.
