    Default <Hello World!>

Just stopping by because I'm getting...frustrated...with my efforts to figure this Java out. I will be looking around for a title specific to my needs. I am a truck driver. I have 3 sons and a woman that I do love so much. Oh and I have 2 cats with the same name and a rat dog. I will say this, also. Whoever developed the first computer language (Not talking about binary code) should have made the language a little less complex. K.I.S.S. should have been tattooed on the back of both of his or her hands as he or she created. I will hang my head for that person.

Welcome to the Forum! Please read this topic to learn how to post code correctly and other useful tips for newcomers.

I thought you were writing a Country song for a bit there . . .

Do you have to learn Java, or is it your choice? I don't want to steer you away, because I think it's an excellent language to learn and not a difficult beginner's language, but it wasn't the first I learned. I've been told repeatedly that Python is a good first language.

Another problem might be your study approach or the material you're using. How are you trying to learn Java? What material are you using? Why are you learning Java, and what do you hope to do with it?

With a better understanding of the above, and if you decide (or have to) stay with Java, I may be able to give you some pointers.

Thank you for replying. I must learn Java. I'm starting a business and I need an app. I prefer Java since Android development and usage seems to be more popular. I looked into the cost of having a company create the app for me and it was around 20 G's so I went and got Java for dummies. I still can't figure it out and I'm quite frustrated with the complexity of the thing. I won't get into detail about my pains. And you're right...it does sound like a country tune. So...I was going through the topics on this site and found a bit of handy advice. I went to a site where I post my app description and coders bid on the work. They're freelance coders. It's so amazing to finally be getting somewhere. There is hope and light at the end of this tunnel! There's that country twang again

Okay, we'll help as best we can. Are you in a hurry to create this app?

Many think that since 12 year-olds can do it, programming is easy. (I think you're beyond that already.) Programming is not easy, and learning to do it well takes time. Some 12-year olds have the time, curiousity, tenacity, aptitude, and energy to work tirelessly at something 18-20 hours a day until they get it. I suspect you don't have that kind of time, so it may take you longer than you'd like. As for your curiosity, aptitude, tenacity, etc., I can't judge that and wouldn't want to.

So I caution you to be patient, learn the basics in a structured thorough manner, and work hard at it when you can. Give yourself a chance to learn and have faith that you will, eventually. Come here when you have doubts in your abilities or chances of success, and we'll give you a kick, or we'll just help you over that hump.

Good luck, and don't be a stranger.
