Principal Accountabilities:
Working alone and in small teams to develop and maintain bespoke scientific systems software using Microsoft and Java technologies.
To manage and participate in projects ensuring their timely and accurate completion.
Provision of ad hoc analysis and programming support and activities across the organisation as required.
To provide problem solving and support for key production systems software.
Work closely with scientific staff to ensure that software user requirements are clearly understood.

Job Requirements: Education:
Preferably degree level (1st or 2i), in an IT or science related subject
Experience:
Experience of using Microsoft and Java technologies to develop software for use in a production environment
Exposure to project management, project methodologies, Object Oriented programming, and agile development preferred
Experience with Test Driven Development beneficial
Technical Skills:
Knowledge of the principles of Object Oriented programming
Experience in the use of some or all of:
Java
Microsoft Dynamics CRM
C# / .Net
Maven
Spring / Hibernate
Oracle
SQL Server
XML
Non-Technical Skills:
Ability to work well as an active member of teams
Flexible and highly self motivated with can do attitude
Helpful customer service attitude
Willingness and ability to quickly pick up a wide range of new skills and knowledge
Ability to work under pressure in order to meet deadlines
Well organised with high personal standards and great attention to detail
Positive and enthusiastic with a creative and energetic approach to problem solving
Physical Demands: Requirement for good close vision majority of time spent working on computer screen
Working Conditions: Desk based within the IT department, in a shared office
