Default How to make a good looking game grid in swing?

Hello everyone, I'm making a battleship game, and I need to make a grid like in the image. But what's the best way to make a 2D grid like that, I tried a lot of things but I don't find a way it really looks like the image.

    Heres the image http://www.imagebam....687e73241745809
