Question Is this a good website to learn professional Java programming from?

    Hi everyone,

I want to learn Java from bottom to top (beginner to advance). I am thinking of using a website known as lynda.com. It has 3, 11 hour and 49 minute courses. I am thinking if this is suitable for me, if not, is there something else out there for FREE for me to learn?

My prerequisites are that i have done C++ traning and know it....

To answer your question, the only real way of finding out is to try it out. It
probably won't take long for you to decide if it is right or wrong. If it's not -
why not use our forum and the tutorial links instead? Many members here are
very experienced in Java and can help you out.

There are many sites that offer free tutorials but most of them lack the structure and insight of a lesson plan developed by a professional instructor in a formal setting working towards a specific goal. If you know what you want to learn and can direct yourself to find and study the material needed to acquire the desired skills, then the material offered by the free sites should be sufficient. If you need someone else's guidance to direct your study, then you should (gladly) pay for that.

We'll be here to help no matter which approach you choose.
