Hello people I'd like to know from you why (to use) and what (is for) a JDK? On the other hand, why should I install a JDK if a have an IDE installed? Basically, I'd like to know the main differences between them. Thanks in advance.

You need an JDK to develop java programs. It has the compiler and other tools
The JDK does not have a GUI
An IDE has a GUI and uses a JDK to develop programs. Sometimes the JDK is builtin the IDE.
